PARIS TYPESH*T ft. Aurélien Dsm
Aurélien is one of my first French friends in Paris. He is not originally from Paris, but he loved the city and wanted to move there from an early age, and he did.
A year ago, I didn’t know much about film, but he was happy to teach me everything. With my mom’s Leica M6, I was completely clueless. He helped me with everything from changing the film to where I could buy film, how to scan, how to store it, and eventually how to develop a film-specific vision. I learned it all by assisting him a few times. He has so much passion for photography and even more excitement for the city of Ratatouille.
He’s a great artist overall. We can talk about anything from sports, music, and photojournalism to Picasso.
We’ve promised each other, as we look at the Arc de Triomphe, that we will not forget each other when we make it. I’m sure he will make it first.
The photos are from our grand adventures through Paris: street photography to crêpe hangouts, impulsive buying of five-finger shoes, and discovering the edgy and strange things about Paris. It’s the way I saw Paris through a lover of Paris — quirky and full of possibilities. Aliens?
